Gabriel Fooshee was a soldier in the civil war. He and a friend went to the depot to see some other friends off and just got on the train and went with them. He was shot through the chest near his heart. His mother didn't know for a long time if he was dead or alive. A speret cannot ball hit his foot splitting his toes. He was in Andersonville Prison for some time. The name of Antioch, IN was changed to Andrews. Gabriel Fooshee and his family landed in Kansas September 30, 1881 and moved to Oxford KS in the fall of 1887 from Grand Summit, KS.
The Fooshees came to America from Alsace Lorraine France and settled in Carolina. Then moved to Virginia and to Antioch, IN. Jack R Foushee has from another source that Gabriel was born in New Castle, IN.
