E S's age is hard to read in the 1880 (probably 51). He is listed as 21 in the 1850 census with siblings on either side of his age. This marriage is listed in the Name File of LDS ref. M519561 sheet 3379. He and his family are listed in Monroe Co in 1880 census ED 207, T9-1272. It is in this census that Joseph Cook age 19 is listed as a nephew.
Did Evan have a previous family?? This question is often asked, but it seems that he was just a late starter. He is listed in the Joseph Foshee family in the 1850 census. By the 1860 census the family listed is his brothers and sisters, the rest of the family either married or dead. By the 1880 census he was married to Eliza and had started his family. The fact that both his mother and father died in April 1855 within two weeks suggests the possibility of a family sickness. Only the time between 1860 and mar 1871is available for evan to have another family. If he was married all the children either died or were with their mother by 1872, the birth of his first son. His tombstone has his name listed as Evans S Forshee with his birth and death dates as listed.
