[196] Durline had become estranged from the rest of the Davidson family after Guy Hugh, Clara Davidson and Jewel Culpepper died. Royce Culpepper, son of Jewel Culpepper, in 1997 went looking for her. He and Leroy Davis went to Wren and finally located Mrs. Noel Conwell, who knew that Durline had lived in Dickinson TX. (Note; Noel Conwell was Durline's boyfriend for several years) Royce and his wife, Becky, were going to Houston a few weeks later to see their grand daughter. They went to the Dickinson water department and asked if they had service for Durline. They found her name in the computer but she had not had service since 1990. The water department was next door to a Real Estate office. Royce went in to inquire about a map on Dickinson. They were out of maps, and the lady in the office asked him who he was looking for. When he told her Durline Shepherd, she said she had a friend whose mother was a Shepherd. She dialed a number from memory and asked the lady that answered what her mother's name was. The lady confirmed her mother's name was Durline Shepherd, and the Real Estate agent let Royce talk to Ann. Ann told him that Durline was in a nursing home in Marshall Texas and that Wilma Bryan Davidson Rankin lived in Jefferson TX. She gave him Wilma's telephone number. Royce and Becky were going on to Dallas to visit other grandchildren. They did get in touch with Wilma Bryan and made an appointment to see her on their way back to Tennessee. They stopped in Marshall and visited Durline. Her mental condition was such that she did not know who Royce was. They went on to Wilma Bryan's and visited with her and her husband, Ira Rankin, born in Okolona MS. Wilma is a wonderful Christian lady, active in the Jefferson Baptist Church. Wilma and Ira visited in Okolona and met her two stepsisters, Jennifer and Rebecca, whom she had never met. It was a very emotional event.
