[124] Okolona Messenger Obituary: Rites Held For Mrs. Lee Davidson - Friends and relatives gathered in the Chapel of the Barry Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon to pay final tribute to Mrs Clara Hadley Davidson, one of Chickasaw County's oldest, lifelong residents. The rites were conducted by the Rev Allison Bell, pastor of the Okolona First Baptist Church. With Mrs Fred McGehee as accompanist, a group sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus". Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Howard Miskelly, Hansel Rogers, Herbert Hall, Richard Farned, Frank Cook and Dan Thomas. Mrs Davidson died at 1:30 Thursday morning at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs H R Culpepper, where she made her home. For the past two years she had been in failing health. Mrs. Davidson, 82, was the widow of Lee Davidson, who died five years ago. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Methodist Church. In addition to Mrs Culpepper, she leaves four other daughters, Mrs S F Davis of Nettleton, Mrs Mel Lauderdale of Troy, Mrs Merle Finger and Mrs Hugh Carter; a brother, Oscar Hadley; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Amoun those from out of twon here for the rites were Royce Culpepper, Malcolm Culpepper, Mrs Jack Curry, Mrs James Hattox, Mrs W H West, all of Jackson; Mrs John Estes of Mooreville; Mr and Mrs Harold Altman of Becker, mr and Mrs Floyd Smith of Nettleton and L A Davis of Tupelo.
