[252] Polly Ann Clark is reported by older family members to be part American Indian. Her daughter, Anna Eliza Foshee Mathis, has the appearance of an old squaw in pictures we have of her. Her grand daughter, Lizzie Ella (Daisy) Mathis Culpepper, had black hair that greyed very little before her death, had high cheek bones, was tall and very erect even though she spent most of her life, after her husbands early death, very inactive. Daisy's son, Henry Royce Culpepper, inherited most of these features; black hair, high cheek bones, little facial and body hair. Her older son, James William Culpepper, inherited some but was more like the Mathis'. Royce's son, Malcolm Culpepper, inherited the black hair and high cheek bones. His older son, Royce Jr., is more like the Davidsons.
