[123] Tupelo Journal - Ralph C West - Ralph Collins West, 72, died Saturday, May 1, 1999, at his residence in the Brewer community after a brief illness. He was a graduate of Shannon High School. After his graduation, he joined the United States Army-Airforce and served in the South Pacific during World War II. He was an avid member of the Bird Dog Field Trial Association and helped organize the Brag Dog Field Trial Club. He was retired from Coca-Coca Bottling Works of Tupelo as assistant plant manager with 24 years of service. He was a former owner of Brewer Groceries and was a cattle fasrmer. He was a Mason and member of the Palmetto Lodge. He was also a member of the Scottish Rites in Corinth and was a long time member of Brewer United Methodist Church. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W E Pegues with the Rev Phillip Box and the Rev William E 'Bill' Harrison officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Kennedy West of Brewer; one son Ralh Michael West and his wife, Glenda, of Okolona; one granddaughter, Kim Hanna and her husband, Greg, of Brewer; one grandson, Chad West of Okolona; three brothers, Curtis West and his wife, Loraine, of Tupelo, Howard West of Sun City, Ariz., and Harry West of Tupelo; one brother-in-law, thomas Kennedy of Brewer; one sister in law, annlette K. Tate of Columbus; three special nephews, Joseph, John and Jimmy D Kennedy, all of whom he helped raise. He was preceeded in death by his parents, maggie and Cliff West; five brothers, Donald West, Elon West, Orville West, Raymond Tucker West and Leon West. Pallbearers will be Tommy Lauderdale, Mike Phillips, Jimmy Rutherford, Benji Robbins, John A Leslie, Lynn Lindsey, Larry Allred and Danny Chunn.
