In the Name of God AMEN. I, Joseph Davison, of the county of Iredell, in the state of North Carolina, being in perfect health and sound in the exercise of my reason and judgment, calling to mind the mortality of my body, I do hereby constitute and appoint this my last will and testament, whereby I do revoke, make void, and disanull all former wills and testaments made by me. Imprimis, I commit my soul to God who gave it. Item, I commit my body to the earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my dear wife and other executors. Item, I order all my just and lawful debts to be paid. Item, I bequeath to my dearly beloved wife, Sarah, all my household furniture. Item, I bequeath to my son, Alexander, one half of my land including that part which he now lives on. Likewise, all my wearing apparel and books. I likewise order that what remains of my estate after the above legacies is paid off, shall go under the care and descretion of my dear wife for her support during her life time and that it shall be in her power and at her descretion with the consort of any other executors to sell and dispose of any part of my personal estate for her support or advantage. Item, I order that at my dear wifes decease, what remains of my estates shall be disposed of in the following manner (viz) The part of my old survey of land shall devolve to and become the property of Joseph Davison, my grandson, and likewise what shall remain of the new survey lying on the south side of said old survey that I now live on. And what remains of my new survey (viz) what lies on the west side of my old survey runing south from the southwest corner of my old shall devolve to and become the property of Thomas Davidson, my grandson. Likewise, I order that at my dear wife's decease, one of my Negroes that my son Alexander shall choose, shall become the property of James Davison, my grandson. I likewise order that twenty pounds cash be payd of my estate and at the discretion of my son Alexander, given to Joseph Oliphant, my grandson. I also orer that what is over and above or remains of my estate after the above legacies is paid off, shall be divided into five equal parts and one fifth part given to my son in law, Matthew Oliphent, one fifth part to Robert Mordach, one fifth part ot Alexander Young, one fifth part to William Watts, one fifth part to James Young, my sons in law. I likewise constitute and appoint my dear wife and my son Alexander Davison and my son in law William Watts executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this fifteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninty five. Was in Lancaster Co Pa about 1750 then moved on to Rowan Co (now Iredell). Charter member of Fourth Creek Presbyterian Ch founded in 1756. Received land grant from Earl of Granville (900 acres). His house still standing built about 1802 is located between Wallace Spring Rd and Buffalo Shoals Rd.
